Our Story

Generations of Passion,
One Family Kitchen.

I was born in Mexico City, where my earliest memories are woven with music, flavors, and the sound of laughter echoing from the kitchen. My mother’s family carried the spirit of Oaxaca; my father’s family brought the bold soul of Coahuila. And through my grandmother Meya, I inherited a culinary heritage that traveled mountain paths and crossed generations.

After two decades living in Tulum and sharing these traditions with the world, we are now bringing Rivera Kitchen to its birthplace — Mexico City. Come into our home, put on your apron, and let’s cook something extraordinary together.

3-4h Full Experience
The Experience

It Starts at Mercado Churubusco

Before we cook, we shop. We begin with a guided walk through one of Mexico City’s most authentic local markets.

🌶️

Chile Education

Learn to classify fresh and dried chiles — the heart of Mexican cooking — and discover their regional differences.

🌽

Ancient Ingredients

Meet the pre-Hispanic staples: masa, epazote, huitlacoche, nopales — and why they matter.

🧀

Artisanal Finds

We source artisanal cheese, fresh tortilla dough, and seasonal produce.

How It Works

Your 3-Hour
Adventure

Every detail is designed so you leave with real skills — and a very full stomach.

1

Market Walk at Churubusco

We meet at the market. A guided stroll to discover seasonal ingredients, local vendors, and the culinary map of Mexico.

2

Cook in a Local Home

Back at the kitchen, music on, aprons tied. You’ll prepare everything hands on — from grinding to plating — guided by your host.

3

Sit Down & Feast Together

The best part: we all sit at one table, eat what we cooked, share stories, and you leave with the recipes to take home.

4

Take the Recipes Home

Every dish you cook, we send you the full family recipe by email. Your Mexico City kitchen memories, preserved forever.

★★★★★

A way to be fully immersed in the local culture! Having the experience of being in someone’s house and learning to cook authenticate food while having conversations with a “local” is what makes this excursion so worth it! Lupita our host was a true gem.

You’re not in a tourist kitchen — you’re in someone’s real home. The intimacy, the food, the stories, the recipes emailed after… honestly the best thing we did in all of Mexico.
